IGD first identified GM foods as an area to watch in the mid 1990s and we have been tracking consumer attitudes ever since. This research set out to understand how people now feel about GM and to establish the questions that they would most like to be answered.
With concerns about food security bringing GM back into the headlines in early 2008, we spoke to almost 6,000 consumers in the spring. We then took the opportunity of further heightened media coverage in the summer to take another sounding with 1,000 consumers in the autumn.
We aim to provide a practical and impartial view of consumer attitudes to GM based on a large and robust sample.
This document looks at:
- Consumer opinions and knowledge, tracked from 2003
- Concerns and beliefs about GM food
