IGD Postgraduate Certificate

A unique opportunity to participate in our prestigious Postgraduate Certificate in Food and Grocery Industry Management.

In this centenary year for IGD, we’re providing up to 15 fully funded scholarships for IGD’s Postgraduate Certificate in Food and Grocery Industry Management, validated by the University of Edinburgh.

The course is ideal for ambitious individuals looking to progress in the food and grocery chain, by enhancing their knowledge and skills, and equipping them for the future. It comprises five compulsory and one optional unit to be studied over one year.

We’re inviting applications from 5th May, with a closing date for applications on 30th June 2009.

  1. Candidates applying must meet the standard entry criteria for the Postgraduate course; a degree or equivalent, or at least 3 year’s experience.
     
  2. Preference will be given to applications from candidates working in small and medium sized businesses that participate in the food and grocery industry; typically businesses with a turnover of less than £25m and up to 250 employees.
     
  3. Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates working in businesses with a turnover of less than £10m and those working in the farming and agricultural sectors.
     
  4. Applicants must have a nominated sponsor from within their company, who will support the applicants commitment to the course and provide guidance and assistance where required.
     
  5. Applicants must be working for a UK based business (or UK based subsidiary). Companies can be either members or non-members of IGD.
     
  6. A completed application form must be received by IGD by the specified closing date.

100% fee waiver; no contribution to fees is required (normally £2,500 for IGD members and £3,500 for non-members).

Complete the application form and ensure it is signed by both applicant and company sponsor, returning it to IGD.

IGD will gather and assess all applications in July.

Applications will be assessed on;

  • Applicant suitability
  • Personal statements
  • Company criteria
  • Company sponsor commitment

Successful applicants will be notified and invited to take a place on the Postgraduate courses which commence on 21st October 2009 or 3rd November 2009. These places are non-transferable to 2010 start dates. All applicants will be notified of the outcome during August.

The course (6 modules, requiring 6 x 1 day attendance at IGD) will run for approximately one year.
