Job Type:

Permanent

Location:

If you are an excellent writer, with fantastic communication skills and a passion for the food and grocery industry then we have just the job for you.

Day one in the job – you’re introduced to the IGD researchers and analysts and flick through some of the fascinating consumer research, market intelligence and insight into how people shop and how what they buy gets to the shelf.

Day two – broadsheet journalists are on the phone wanting IGD figures on the grocery market in the UK. They want to interview someone about the latest developments. You set up an interview for the Chief Economist, prep him and make sure it goes well.

Day three – our latest big piece of consumer research covers shopper trends in Europe. How many press releases can you get out of one piece of research? Quite a few, actually. Meanwhile you spot on Twitter some breaking news that we can comment on.

Day four – at one of our big events in London, chatting over lunch to some of the most important people in the food industry, you make a new contact in one of our member companies – some of the biggest retailers and manufacturers in the world.

Day five – you’re off to Eastern Europe with one of our analysts, having set up some media interviews for them...might as well spend the weekend there relaxing afterwards.

That's a fairly typical week for a communications officer at IGD. If you’ve got what it takes to seek out great stories from our team of world-class analysts producing some of the best and most thought-provoking research and market intelligence around, then get in touch.

IGD is looking for an experienced professional to join our busy corporate comms team. You are probably working in the food industry at the moment, or have been recently. Or perhaps you're in a busy press room or media office and are ready to make a move into the fascinating world of food and grocery research.

Working at the heart of the food and grocery industry means you will be in contact with senior people both at IGD and out in the industry more widely.

Reporting to the head of communications, you will develop relations with national print and broadcast media, the trade press and dozens of publications overseas. We’ll also need you to play a role in generating and editing copy for IGD.com and other websites that we host. And to help develop and deliver an international profile-raising programme for our chief executive.

Find out more about our media output in the IGD Media Centre.

There's lots to do, so please get in touch soon.
