This conference has now taken place. See the full list of upcoming IGD conferences & events for the grocery industry here. |
The sustainability issue is front of mind for every business leader and all organisations are either responding or developing strategies to respond on the issue. DEFRA’s Food Industry Sustainability Strategy has tasked the industry to deliver greater collaboration across transportation and distribution to mitigate its impact on the environment and to reduce food miles.
But how do businesses manage the need for greater efficiency, better service and manage its impact on the environment?
IGD’s Sustainable Distribution 2008 event is designed to cut through the talk and identify the practical steps through which the industry can get started. This event will explore a plethora of developments taking place in the industry from fuel technologies, vehicle design, intermodal, transport optimisation, consolidation, warehouse design, sharing of assets and how companies can assess/limit the impact on carbon emissions. You will also learn practical approaches to get started whilst taking a view to the future and likely considerations for all businesses.
This is more than just an event – it’s an important opportunity hear the work from ECR UK (Efficient Consumer Response) that has pulled together the distribution directors of the major retailers and FMCG suppliers to develop sustainable distribution practices. It is inevitable that greater collaboration will become a pre-requisite for the industry to meet the sustainability challenge head on.
Why not join the debate and take up the challenge of developing a sustainable supply chain of the future!
